A2Z Infrastructure will set-up the largest integrated project in Asia for Municipal Solid Waste management at Kanpur

Kanpur Municipal Corporation, with a view to protect the environment and effective management and disposal of the solid waste, has allotted an end-to-end integrated project to A2Z Infrastructure. Under this mandate A2Z Infrastructure Pvt Ltd – a subsidiary of A2Z Maintenance and Engineering Services Ltd –  will set-up the largest integrated project in Asia for Municipal Solid Waste management for Kanpur city. Earlier in June 2008, Kanpur Municipal Corporation had given mandate to A2Z for processing and disposal of solid waste. Now this mandate has been extended for collection and transport also.

The company announced in a joint press conference organised by the company and the Kanpur Municipal Corporation that it was setting up the first of its kind in India, an integrated solid waste to power project at Kanpur.  The energy to be consumed by the plant will be obtained from RDF – Refused Derived Fuel. It is expected that the power plant will be operative by March 2011 and it will have a capacity to produce 15 Mega Watt of Energy. The company has plans to sell this electricity to the state on commercial basis. The company assures that the electricity produced will be completely local and the technology to be used for RDF is organic in nature. RDF is the best substitute for coal and it produces less pollution than the coal.

On this occasion, the municipal commissioner of Kanpur city Mr R Vikram Singh said that Kanpur occupies a place amongst the top 10 most sanitised cities in the country as per the Ministry of Urban Development. He said that he was proud of this fact and he believed that in coming years Kanpur will be  at  the top amongst the cleanest cities in the country.  He complimented A2Z company and reminded the residents of Kanpur city that their attitude toward cleanliness should change now wherein the revolution brought in the technology by the A2Z company is gainfully utilised.
